Bedside Shift Report

We want you to feel comfortable and cared for throughout your stay, so at each nursing shift change—around 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.—your nurse will introduce your new nurse to you. The team will talk about your progress, medicine and tests scheduled for the day, and you can ask questions as well.

All visitors are welcome to dine in  the cafeteria.


Calling Your Nurse

Your room is connected to the nursing station via an intercom system. To call for your nurse, press the NURSE call button located HOSPITAL PROVIDE. If you have any questions on how to use the call button, ask a staff member to  show you.


Cellphones

Our phone policy is HOSPITAL  PROVIDE. Cellphones may interfere with some medical equipment. Please talk to your nurse before using a cellphone in a patient room.


Electrical Appliances

Only battery-operated devices are allowed in patient rooms. Do not use electric hairdryers, curling irons, razors, heating pads, portable heaters, VCRs/DVRs, computers or other electric devices.


Fire Safety

We conduct fire drills from time to time. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In an actual emergency, hospital staff will tell you what to do.


Flowers

Flowers are delivered to patient rooms by individual florists. Please note that flowers are not allowed in Intensive Care Units.


Gift Shop

Location X floor.

Saturday and Sunday:  X.00 a.m. to X:00 p.m.


Proceeds from the gift shop are donated back to the hospital to assist the needs of patients. Cash, check and credit cards accepted.


Hearing Impaired

Housekeeping Services

Mail

Mail and packages will be delivered to you by a hospital volunteer. Mail received after you leave the hospital will be forwarded to your home. You may take outgoing mail to the nursing station or give it to your attending nurse. Postage stamps are available in the gift shop.


Medicines

All medicines you take in the hospital need to be prescribed, filled and given to you by hospital staff. Tell your doctor about any medicines you regularly take. If you brought any prescription or over-the-counter medicines to the hospital, please have a loved one take them home for you. If you still need them, hospital staff will give them to you.

Pastoral Care

Patients and their loved ones can call upon our hospital chaplain or a group of volunteer ministers at any time. Simply ask your nurse to request these services. You can also find a chapel on the  HOSPITAL PROVIDE.


Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)

This council allows patients and loved ones to give feedback to improve the hospital experience. These volunteers work with hospital staff to create positive changes for future patients and families. If you'd like to volunteer with the PFAC, contact HOSPITAL PROVIDE.

HOSPITAL PROVIDE include  info on pre-ordering.


Personal Belongings  and Valuables

Personal care items such as contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures can be stored in your bedside stand. Please do not put them on your bed or food tray so they aren't lost or damaged. If you brought valuables like jewelry or cash, give them to a loved one to watch over. You may also ask your nurse about placing valuables in the hospital safe.


Pharmacy

Located on X floor. HOSPITAL  PROVIDE. Most major insurances accepted.

Public Restrooms

For everyone’s health and safety, we ask visitors not to use patient restrooms. Public restrooms are located throughout the hospital. Ask hospital staff to direct you to the nearest one.


Rapid Response Team

Smoking

You’re not allowed to smoke anywhere in the hospital or on the hospital grounds. HOSPITAL PROVIDE


Telephone

All patient rooms have phones.  To place a call within the hospital, see p. X. To dial local, HOSPITAL PROVIDE. To dial long distance, HOSPITAL PROVIDE.


TV

Each patient room has a television. Please be considerate of others by keeping the volume down and turning off your TV at bedtime. TVs are controlled by the bedside pillow speaker or side rail controls. Closed captioning is available for the hearing impaired. Ask a staff member if you have questions about using your TV.


Vending Machines

Here you can find beverages  and snacks 24 hours a day. Located HOSPITAL PROVIDE.

Zero Tolerance Policy

For everyone's health and safety, we support an environment of respect between patients, visitors and staff. This hospital does not tolerate physical or verbal abuse. Anyone who displays this behavior may be removed from the hospital.
